Days after journalist Sudhir Choudhary resigned from the post of editor-in-chief and CEO of Zee News, it has been revealed that he will continue to be the ‘consulting editor’ to date.
Aaj Tak is a Hindi news channel and part of India Today Group. India Today Group vice-chairperson Kali Puri confirmed this in an email to the channel’s staff.
According to reports, Sudhir Chaudhary will host a new program to date. According to Puri, ‘Aaj Tak’ and ‘Sudhir Chaudhary’ under the direction of news director Supriya Prasad want to reach 100 million viewers.
A veteran of Indian TV journalism, Sudhir Chaudhary joined Zee News in his early years but left in 2003 to join Sahara Samay. He was also associated with India TV for some time. In 2012, he returned to Zee News, where he was hosting the highest-rated show Daily News and Analysis (DNA) on Hindi news channels.
Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra and a Zee Media mentor said in an internal email that they have met twice in the past two days to try to persuade Sudhir Chaudhary to stay. “Since he plans to start his venture using his fan following, I didn’t want to get in the way of his progress,” Subhash Chandra said in an email. Chandra also intends to host a farewell dinner for Sudhir Chaudhary at the Constitution Club on July 8.
In his resignation letter to Chandra, Sudhir Choudhary said that he had been contemplating starting his own business for a long time. In his resignation email, Sudhir Choudhary wrote, “To start my own business. I assure you that my proposed new venture (if successful) will make you happy and proud of me. My success in two years (two) over the years) will be proof of my learning.
He wrote in his resignation letter, “I wish to say with a heavy heart that ‘the art of the beginning is great, but the art of the end is great.” But, sir, I would like to add this also, I am asking for it. Your blessings for separating from ZMCL.
