Bad news has come from the Tollywood film industry. Popular Telugu film actor Appalapati Krishnam Raju passed away. The actor breathed his last at the age of 83. Krishnam Raju is the uncle of \’Baahubali\’ fame actor Prabhas. Known as the \’Baaghi Star\’ of Tollywood, Krishnam Raju acted in more than 180 films in a career spanning five decades. His fans are deeply shocked by his death. People are paying tribute to him on social media.

Born on 20 January 1940 in Muglathar in West Godavari district, Krishnam Raju was the first actor to serve as a Union Minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee\’s cabinet.

Krishnam Raju has 187 films to his credit. In 1966, Krishnam Raju made his film debut in Telugu cinema with the film Chilaka Goranka. Krishnam Raju has worked in social, family, romantic, thriller films to historical and mythological films. His hit films include \’Amara Deepam\’, \’Sita Ramulu\’, \’Kat Katla Rudriya\’ and many more.
Krishnam Raju has been awarded the Nandi Award twice by the Andhra Pradesh Government. In 1986, he won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for \’Tandra Paparayudu\’. Apart from this, he was also honored with the \’Lifetime Achievement\’ award of the film Fair South in 2006.
He also tried his hand in politics
Krishnam Raju made his career in politics as well as films. He contested as a Congress candidate from Narisapuram in 1991.
After 8 years in the 1999 elections, he won from the same seat as a BJP candidate. He was the first actor to serve as a Union Minister in the cabinet of former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
